Beer Garden Season Begins in Bavaria

16, June 2015: Hostelling International, the only global network of Youth Hostel Associations, offers more than 250 hostels worldwide specifically suitable for group accommodation. For those planning a group holiday to the German region of Bavaria, to experience the summer fun of the official "beer garden season", hostel accommodation offers a safe, friendly and affordable option.

The expert team at Hostelling International's website dedicated to group accommodation and travel have come up with a number of excellent outdoor venues to enjoy the fun and traditional cultural aspects of the Bavarian biergartens.

Munich

The Hofbraukeller is one of the city's most high profile drinking establishments. With a tram stop right at the door and a delightful leafy space in which to enjoy the refreshments, this is an authentic Bavarian beer hall, complete with men in lederhosen and the iconic Hofbrau beers on tap. It's located just off Wiener Platz in the heart of the city.

Nuremberg - Altstadthof

Nuremburg (also known as Nurnberg) is the capital of Franconia and well known and loved for its laconic rural beauty. So even if not everyone in the group is a lover of beer, there's plenty to see and do in this lovely region. For those who are interested in the beer, however, a visit to the old town and Altstadthof can provide a taste of the unique Rothbeer, while around the beautiful St Sebaldus church aficionados can sample the varieties from the Neumarkt Lammsbrau brewery.

Regensburg – Spital Brewery

In Regensburg, visitors can enjoy a traditional German bratwurst sausage in the world's oldest takeaway shop before visiting one of the breweries. For those looking for authenticity and a slightly more laidback ambience, the advice is to head over the bridge to Regensburg's oldest brewery, to sample the malty, bitter Spital Dunkles.
